METALHEADS - THE GOOD, THE BAD, & THE EVIL
Modified By BillZebub on 4/15/2008 12:30:38 AM)

This movie is being shot at a very brisk pace.  I don't have a lot of time between shooting scenes, and the days are very long, but as mentally taxing as this aggressive schedule is, I find that I am having as much fun as I did when I first started to make feature length movies.

The cast is especially good.  The Elaine character is played by Emily Thomas, a newcomer to the world of Bill Zebub, but she is a veteran actress (she has been on TV a few times, mostly in soap operas).  Her character was the hardest to cast.  I don't want to go into the details of her character at this point, but suffice it to say that she had to be extremely charismatic.  It's hard to be perceived that way when depicting character flaws, lol.  The flavor of the movie depends on her.  A lot was riding on my casting decision, but Emily showed up at the casting interview with such insight into the "Elaine" character that she almost had me asking HER questions about the character, ha ha.  I've never interviewed anyone who came to the meeting so fully prepared.  Part of the interview process is to find the weak areas of the candidate and then to decide if those weak areas can be worked on or if they will undo the creative process.  Emily was resilent throughout the casting and, to make a long story short, she just has one more day of shooting left (Sunday the 20th of April).

Emily was fine with the notion of working with a non actor.  (one who has not been formally trained).  One of the other characters in the movie who was hard to cast was the "Rich" character.  As a viewer, you have to perceive that he is incapable of being sinister.  Yes, he can become angry, but his anger would never cross over into the cruel realms.  And you have to get the sense that this guy would not hold a grudge.  So I chose Tom Hartman to fill in those big shoes, and so far, my gamble has paid off.

Another great casting choice was Carl "Chaos" - I needed someone to play a character who has an antisocial personality disorder, and it's an attitude that is hard to fake.  Chaos pulls it off convincingly, but I am sure that you will know that deep down he's only going to rape your dog if you truly deserve it.

Ok, fatigue has made me goofy and I must retire to my bedchamber...  I will post 200+ pictures in the METALHEADS gallery within 2 weeks.  Some of the pictures may spoil some surprises, but if this movie is done right, you'll still cling to your seat even if you read teh entire script beforehand (assuming that you sat on a grilled cheese sandwich without knowing about it, and that is what is making you cling to your seat).

METAL!!!

Re: METALHEADS - THE GOOD, THE BAD, & THE EVIL

I have to share a funny film-making moment.

Today I shot out-in-public scenes with Tom Harman (he plays the "Rich" character).  His character woke up hungover and he didn't realize that someone wrote "fuck me" on his forehead and drew huge eyelashes on him.  In this particular scene he tries to catch a bus and nobody would let him on.  Well, that happened in real life!  Ha!.  You should have seen the expressions of people who passed him by while he sat at the bus stop.

It's hard to shoot guerilla-style, and in the case of hidden-camera moments like these it's really tough to get release-forms signed (try driving after a bus, ha ha).  So when you see the reactions of people, they are not actors.  The expressions were genuine.

My earliest work involved public stunts.  It was so much fun to incorporate that into this movie.

The netlix decision is up to them, not me. They have some of my titles and have ignored others (which I do not understand)

Well, if you take a look at the home page you will see a URL to visit in case you want to pre-order this movie, which has a street date of August 26, I think.  And of course it is already appearing in some Internet vendor sites.
